What do you intend to produce? (Ideas Synopsis)

I plan to create a comedy sit com based on a school/college environment. The characters we create will be stereotypical to school life, such as the geek, dumb blonde, they homosexual, chav and of course the Harry Potter mega fan.

It will be recognised as a sit com through the scripted humour and exaggerated characters.

Audience and how they will be targeted

15-35 – this is similar to E4’s demographic. It will be shown before the watershed so there will be no strong language or sexual nature.

Institution

·        Silver lining productions – need to produce a logo for the company

·        Apply for funding – not necessarily a sit com made for profit

·        E4 logo would possibly be shown on screen at most times

Influences

·        Summer Heights High (sit com about a school in Australia that plays with the stereotype of student teachers)

·        Educating Yorkshire (school life documentary with comedy values)

I am going to use a classy font for my magazine, one that is widely used for this type of media, but easy to read. The pictures will be large and I will overlap image and text to give it a professional look.

Characters

·        The ‘dumb blonde’ – Female character who comes across as very dumb and slow. (Played by Emily)

·        The ‘camp one’ – Male character who is very camp. (Played by Adam)

·        The Chav – Female character dressed in chav associated attire (tracksuit, Nike air max) who acts ‘hard’ and intimidating. (Played by Ashton)

·        The ‘fan-girl’ – Female character who is overly obsessed with Harry Potter.

Our college common room.

Props: Wand, Harry Potter book, mobile phone

Setting: Common room

Décor: Chairs, tables, beanbags

Costume:

Dumb blonde – skirt, lacy top

Camp – plaid shirt and tie

The Chav – tracksuit, trainers

The fan-girl – Cape, wand, glasses

Image/Lighting (Moving Image/Still)

The lighting will be natural but flattering for the camera, it will be a moving image as we will be recording it.

(Although it will be moving image I will convert it to still pictures for my print and e-media courswork)
